Fall Furore – Essentials to celebrate the Warm & Fuzzy this season

What is it about the Fall Furore everywhere but its so encapsulating ! I agree…

When I worked for the Apparel Retail Industry , we worked around four seasons primarily but off course you all know this already, at one point also six seasons like the transitioning ones Summer Spring & Autumn Winter. What the hell these guys had predicted climate change & confusing weathers already a decade ago.

Now there were a few things standard across like seasonal colour palettes but to create further ado the Fashion brigade also announced the colour of the season every year conveniently.

But guess what it’s a given fact that most parts of India barring northern India basically the Himalayas and its foothills never really experiences Autumn in all its glory at least not the kind we see in online images or in Hollywood movies. But also guess what we retailers encashed upon this thought itself , a mixed climate and short winters that India experiences should not be a ground for lost opportunity after all. How you ask let me then spill a tiny little secret here , onset of every autumn around October the standard operating guidelines for stores would ask the staff to turn the AC to a full blast like a maximum of 16 degrees ( Ha Ha Ha) The psychology behind this was the walk-in customers feel cold and visualise the approaching winters and hence bought wintery stuff in full price a month ahead . Let me also remind you Northern India experiences peak winters in January but the sales for winter wear always dips around then too, discounts were run usually around this period because in our heads we are thinking winter is almost over and we anticipate Spring to arrive soon.

The point I am trying to make here by writing 3 paragraphs and 200 words is ” Its all in our Heads “. And if its in our heads then there is most definitely Autumn around irrespective of where you live except Maldives. (Too blue to Qualify)

And to feel the subtle changes in the weather and around us all we gotta do is observe the subtle nuisances here and there. You may not find the vivid kaleidoscopes of fall foliage the Reds, the Russets, the scarlets or the Ombres of Maple, Sourwood , Sumac leaves everywhere but this splendid magic can be brought home very much through decor, adding little autumn touches here and there and also simply through sipping some warm cocoa and lighting a cedarwood candle.
