This is Part 2 of the Blog on styling small balconies or outdoor spaces so they are your favourite cozy nook to sip Coffee , Do some reading, write a blog like me, or have a Zoom call with a little exciting background . Ok I have said enough about why you need them on PART 1 (if you haven’t read Part 1 please do so for better understanding and context )
Today I want to help you get going with styling your own space that will hopefully make your mornings more pleasant and evenings more joyful without breaking the bank. So lets get started on a few ideas and also finally the most requested link to that one Question – Where is that Chair from ?
Few things in our Balcony are DIY’s like the pine wood shelfs were made by us 8 months ago if you have access to a timber store nearby you could make your own shelfs too, the Chalkboard is an old thrift market find but I have put together something very similar to it below. The bonus is most of the stuff here is Amazon sourced except for the Chair & Table set for which there are a few alternatives on Amazon if IKEA doesn’t deliver to where you live.
As promised if you read the whole thing , there are some Bonus ideas in the end for you to think and get going on styling your outdoor space with confidence.

Minimal Coastal Vibes
If you are a ‘Plant Killer’ or if the idea of having lots of Plants to take care , overwatering , under watering, de-weeding seems scary take a look at this simple yet elegant minimal Balcony that oozes Coastal Shack Vibes. The distressed wooden floor, the walls and the roof add so much Character & warmth here, I am in LOVE with this idea. A Bamboo lamp and that Chair & Table complete this understated look . A single Tall Statement Plant does the job here , palms are very easy and forgiving plants so this is a great idea for a no fuss look and people who often forget about their plants not me though.
A Plush Modern Look
Take a clue from this Chic Balcony with a Plush upholstered Chairs & a Pouffe , Metal Planters create a minimal cohesive vertical garden on the wall or add a Trellis instead. A Bamboo Trellis is also easily available in India and imagine creepers like the english Ivy or our desi Rangoon creeper climbing on them. Thsi would add the right amount of drama and that much needed greenery to any concrete space. I would totally want to do this if I had another balcony at my mercy. Love the neutral minimal theme of this balcony.
Bring in some Mediterranean or Moroccan Vibes
If you like Ethnic then colour pick an idea or two from this cute Moroccan /African inspired Balcony. Kilim rugs and cushions is all you need and you get them in plenty here in India , a few oversized Urn Planters with some Desert Rose and dramatic Cacti. The balconies on the Italian Riviera are so colourful & cute or may be the Blue & white of Greece with a Fuchsia Bougainvillea could be your thing. Choose a theme and the right plants for your climate and just get going my friend.
Bohemian Chic
If Bohemian is more your style add a Macrame Swing or a Hammock if you got little more space, Dreamcatchers swaying in the wind and creepers that hang from the ceiling will complete the look. Or DIY a rustic branch and add some Macrame or Bamboo Plant Hangers like you see below.
So here you go tons of ideas to convert a small space we call a Balcony into your favourite unwinding cozy nook that you’ll fall in love with. Hopefully you found this helpful , if this still seems a daunting task, feel free to reach out for a one on one consultation and I’ll help you design and source the right elements for your space that will be the envy of your neighbours and the owner’s pride.
Happy Green Spaces till then !
