“I hope I can be the autumn leaf, who looked at the sky and lived. And when it was time to leave, gracefully it knew life was a gift.”
– Dodinsky
Its the onset of autumn everywhere and in India it collides with our biggest festival DIWALI so double the fun not quite actually. I strongly believe I am not a Human but a Tree captured in a Human body , around this time of the year I often cocoon into a spiral of thoughts about where the year went by and how little could I do and there is so much overthinking and reflection involved that just like Trees I want to shed all my leaves , rest and basically hibernate away from the world. On the contrary in our country its major festival time and people rejoice and celebrate and dress up to socialize and be merry.
While all I want to do is light a dozen candles , drink gallons of Coffee and Hot Cocoa , eat cake and hibernate in a room full of books and see everyone only about next year. I have to admit I have never been a big Festival person the idea of meeting someone & dressing out of my PJ’s is intimidating & actually makes the introvert in me very uncomfortable.
But then you cannot blame me I have the spirit of a Tree as warned before and this is my hibernation time. See you in Spring people.
But the Decorista bug and then the self proclaimed Photographer in me cannot help but notice and admire that beautiful soft light Fall brings with it and the warmth of the sun on my skin. And so with all my might, I get up and start doing cozy corners in our Home and take gallons of pictures under that soft autumn light.
So let me take you through , what I have been incorporating for fall this year. And before we jump in I have to announce this Pallatte of creams , beiges, browns , Ochres , Rusts, Greys, and Ombres is my absolute favourite. And am personally a big Fan of Checks , Ginghams , Plaids , Tartans from clothing to Decor to just about anything, I can never like never tire of these or have enough of them.
Fall Bedroom Refresh
We live in small rental apartment which doesn’t have much space left after our King size bed was accomodated and for most of the year it has cozy cottons or Linens in soft pastels or white owing to the heat and tropical weather of where we live. But for Fall we took out our rust linen Duvet and it was the perfect addition with a few cream and tartan cushions and a cotton throw to layer it all up. The small space leaves no room for a proper nightstand and this stool is what serves the purpose. I dressed it up with a some Faux flowers in the fall pallet and that’s about it.
Fall Touches in the Living Area
Pumpkins are now synonymous with fall and I couldn’t resist buying a cute ceramic one this season to begin. I had made few fabric pumpkins last year and they looked equally adorable. Adding a few dry grasses to an old Vase of mine and lighting a couple of candles just added to the whole melodrama in the living space. I didn’t have to switch around many things because ours is quite a neutral living room anyhow. Here’s how it turned out.
Fall touches to the Dining
Our much awaited new dining table arrived and I was quite estatic because it was indeed a long wait. The wooden grains of this rustic table only added to the whole mood of fall. Styled it with an old Ceramic Jar as a Vase , the ones our grannies used for Pickles because it has the perfect palate of fall season. My wooden candle stands with old school tapered candles and we were all set.
Also created this easy Fall Vignette using Beer Bottles, I had seen it on Pinterest quite a few times and wanted to try it for a few years now. Loved using old Beer bottles as candle stands and creating this dreamy fall Vignette. A sustainable way to decorate well within the budget without compromising on aesthetics and the hygge factor one bit.
